Heavyweight King Usyk Predicts Joshua to Conquer Fury in Potential Showdown

Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has publicly predicted that Anthony Joshua will emerge victorious in a potential highly anticipated clash against Tyson Fury. This prediction comes amidst renewed negotiations for the all-British heavyweight showdown, a fight that has been years in the making but has repeatedly fallen through.

Usyk, who boasts an undefeated record of 24-0 with 15 knockouts, has notably secured two victories against both Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) and Fury (35-2-1, 24 KOs). The Ukrainian champion recently extended an invitation to Joshua to join his training camp in Spain. Joshua is currently working towards full fitness following a severe car crash in December that tragically claimed the lives of two of his close friends, though Joshua himself sustained only minor injuries.

Speaking to reporters, Usyk expressed his strong belief in Joshua's capabilities, stating, "I believe. I look how Anthony is training. He's a machine." He also emphasized the importance of public support for Joshua during this time. Usyk drew a parallel to his own experience as a fan of Dynamo Kyiv, highlighting that true fans remain supportive even when their team faces setbacks. He encouraged fans to rally behind Joshua, underscoring the necessity of mutual support within the boxing community.

When questioned about Joshua's readiness to return to the ring after the December incident, Usyk acknowledged Joshua's physical challenges but remained optimistic. "I think yes but we need a little bit of time because we know AJ has problem with body after crash but yes, he can [return]," Usyk affirmed.

Beyond his insights into the Joshua-Fury potential fight, Usyk is also actively preparing for his own significant bout. He is scheduled to face kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven on May 23. This contest will have the WBC heavyweight title on the line and is slated to be an iconic event staged against the backdrop of the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
