Heat warning in effect until Thursday for much of N.B. | CBC News
Much of New Brunswick has a heat warning in place from Environment Canada that is expected to last until Thursday. Temperatures of 30 to 33 C can be expected, with a humidex of up to 39.
Some parts of New Brunswick could experience a humidex of up to 39 Tuesday into Thursday.
Environment Canada heat warnings are in effect for much of the province, excluding parts of the northwest.
According to the warning, a hot and humid air mass is settling over the region and conditions are expected to improve on Friday.
The daytime temperature could be anywhere between 30 and 33 C, with a humidex of 36 to 39, the warning says.
Environment Canada issues heat warnings when very high temperatures or humidity is expected and could pose a risk of heat stroke or exhaustion.
Heat stroke signs includes red and hot skin, dizziness, nausea, confusion or change of consciousness, the warning says.
New Brunswick isn't the only province being affected by extreme heat. Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec also have heat warnings in effect.
The Environment Canada warning advises people to drink water often, close blinds or shades, turn on air conditioning or use a fan, plan outdoor activities for the coolest parts of the day, limit direct exposure to sun, wear loose-fitting and light-coloured clothing, and don't leave people or pets inside parked cars.
