The South African tactician is in the training camp with Harambee Stars ahead of CHAN 2024, which Kenya is co-hosting with Uganda and Tanzania.

Kenya will open their tournament against the Democratic Republic of Congo at Kasarani Stadium on August 3.

McCarthy was appointed in March by the Football Kenya Federation following the departure of Engin Firat. He joined after leaving Manchester United in 2024.

He is building a team for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya will co-host.

"We are committed to building a structured, disciplined, and competitive squad. Our goal is to develop a strong team identity, play exciting football, and make the nation proud. I look forward to working with the players, the federation, and the passionate Kenyan fans to achieve success," the Bafana Bafana legend said.

His appointment also came after Hussein Mohamed took the reins at FKF. McCarthy took charge of his first games in March against the Gambia and Gabon in the World Cup qualifiers.

In the first match on March 20, against the Gambia, they drew 3-3 but needed a late goal to rescue a point.

Gabon defeated Harambee Stars in McCarthy's second match in a packed Nyayo Stadium. Last month, he registered his first win after narrowly beating Chad in a friendly clash in Morocco.

McCarthy shared photos of his daughter on Instagram and wished her

"Happy 17th birthday to my daughter, Allegra. Love you lots and have a wonderful day," the former Porto striker wrote.

His daughter Lima also celebrated her 13th birthday in May.

During his time at Porto, he met his first wife, Maria Santos, whom he married in 2004. They have three children together: Mya, Minna, and Allegra, but the couple separated in 2007.

In 2014, he married Stacey Munro, whom he met in the Scottish city of Edinburgh in 2008. The couple has two children together: Lima, born in 2012, and Lio Romeo, born in 2019.

In February, he celebrated both his wife and his firstborn's birthdays.

In another story, reported that CAF announced the stadiums in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania designated to host the upcoming matches.

Tanzania has been assigned the opening match, where Taifa Stars will face Burkina Faso on August 2 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Uganda's Nelson Mandela Stadium will stage the third-place playoff, while Kenya will host the final on August 30.
