Gregg's shop worker attacked with hammer at bakery in Handforth

A MASKED robber assaulted a male member of staff in a bakery with a hammer.

The attack happened at Greggs Bakery on Wilmslow Road, Handforth,  at 4.24pm on Friday, July 4.

A man wearing a balaclava came into the back of the bakery and assaulted an employee.

The victim ran to the front of the shop to alert his colleagues.

The suspect tried to open a safe but failed and made off.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to talk to following the attempted robbery.

DS Tom Binder said: “Thankfully the victim wasn’t seriously injured, but did require hospital treatment.



“I’d urge anyone who recognises this man or has any information including dash cam or CCTV to contact us so that we can progress with our enquiries.”
