Government Unveils New AI Platform to Revolutionize Public Access and Governance

The Nigerian federal government has officially launched GovGuideNigeria, an innovative artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to significantly enhance access to government information and public services for all citizens.
This groundbreaking initiative was announced by Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, via a post on X, emphasizing the government's commitment to leveraging technology for improved public service delivery.
GovGuideNigeria is meticulously crafted to make government information simpler, faster, and more inclusive for every Nigerian. To ensure widespread accessibility, the platform is available through both WhatsApp and the web, and crucially, it supports multiple indigenous languages including English, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba.
This linguistic diversity is a key feature aimed at bridging existing language and information gaps, particularly benefiting underserved and low-literacy communities across the country who often face significant challenges in accessing vital government resources.
The platform offers easy access to a vast repository of information, encompassing details from more than 35 federal ministries and over 60 government agencies.
This comprehensive coverage is expected to provide citizens with a centralized and convenient point of reference for various government-related queries and services.
Minister Tijani highlighted that this initiative underscores the federal government’s dedication to ensuring that technology and artificial intelligence serve the populace, delivering practical value to their daily lives.
The development and successful launch of GovGuideNigeria are a testament to robust collaboration between key stakeholders. Dr. Tijani acknowledged the strong partnership between the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIRNigeria), Meta, and Publica AI Media.
Sade Dada, Head of Public Policy at Meta, further elaborated on this collaboration, noting that GovGuideNigeria was developed by the Nigerian technology firm Publica AI, utilizing Meta’s open-source AI models.
Dada emphasized that this project serves as a practical example of how open-source AI can foster economic growth and social development within Africa, showcasing the critical role of local innovation and talent in creating technology solutions tailored to African realities.
Ignatius Willie, Chief Executive Officer of Publica AI, affirmed the platform’s transformative potential, stating that it is designed to revolutionize how Nigerians interact with public institutions.
Minister Tijani urged all Nigerians to actively utilize GovGuideNigeria to conveniently access government information and services, thereby fostering greater transparency and citizen engagement.
