Ghana Parliament Prepares Second Democracy Cup Launch | News Ghana
The 3:00 PM event will announce competing teams for the annual football tournament designed to blend sports with democratic engagement.
Initiated in 2024, the competition’s maiden edition featured Asante Kotoko defeating Accra Hearts of Oak at Accra Sports Stadium. This year’s iteration aims to strengthen national unity while promoting civic participation through sports. Parliamentary officials confirm enhanced activities to deepen connections between athletic excellence and democratic values.
The launch precedes the 2025 match date, which remains undisclosed. The tournament forms part of broader efforts under President John Mahama’s National Democratic Congress administration to foster social cohesion through apolitical platforms.
