Georgia Tech shortstop Lodise picked in third round of MLB Draft by White Sox - NewsBreak
Georgia Tech shortstop Kyle Lodise got the call baseball players dream of while growing up playing the game as he was selected with the first pick of the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft (76th overall) by the Chicago White Sox on Sunday night.
Lodise had an impressive 2025 season at Georgia Tech after transferring to play on The Flats following two great seasons at Augusta University. This past spring with the Jackets he was named Second-Team All-ACC, Second-Team All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings, a USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award semifinalist and Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist by the College Baseball Foundation which goes to the top shortstop in the country in college baseball.
Lodise finished the year for Tech with a .329 batting average, a 1.096 OPS, 20 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, 61 RBIs, 68 runs scored and 13 stolen bases. Defensively he had a .967 fielding percentage and 140 assists.
His numbers as a junior at Georgia Tech followed freshman and sophomore seasons at Augusta when he was named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year in 2023 and Peach Belt Conference Second-Team both seasons.
Lodise graduated from High (Ga.) in 2022 when received multiple honors over his career there, including being named as an All-State shortstop in 2021 and 2022.
Other draft picks of interest for Georgia Tech included high school SS/2B/OF Ryan Mitchell from High (Tenn.), a 2025 Jackets’ signee, who was selected in the second round (55th) overall by the St. Louis Cardinals.
The MLB Draft will continue on Monday with several other Georgia Tech players and high school signees looking for their names to be called.
