In a statement, Mosiria disclosed that he held a fruitful and constructive discussion with Wetang'ula on Tuesday, June 9, on matters concerning our environment.

He stated that their meeting focused particularly on the urgent need to educate Kenyans on the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment, as well as the devastating effects of pollution.

'"Air pollution, in particular, has become a major threat to public health, with many citizens including children and newborns suffering from upper respiratory conditions and allergic reactions triggered by poor air quality," Mosiria said.

Following the meeting, Mosiria said there is a need as a country to take bold action steps in formulating laws that protect the environment.

He noted that all vehicle sellers should be compelled to transition to e-mobility as a step towards protecting our health and ensuring environmental sustainability.

"As a nation, it’s time we take bold and deliberate action. I strongly believe we need legislation that compels all vehicle sellers to transition to e-mobility as a step towards protecting our health and ensuring environmental sustainability. Additionally, we must enforce a national policy that makes monthly tree planting and maintenance a civic duty for every citizen. We also discussed the need for stricter penalties for those who pollute our environment. Protecting our planet starts with us and the time to act is now," he added.

On his part, Wetang'ula stated that his meeting with Mosiria centred on identifying ways of conserving the environment in the city and its environs.

"Environmental conservation is crucial for protecting biodiversity, maintaining ecosystem stability and ensuring sustainable resource management. Pollution of rivers in Nairobi city and waste management remains a thorn in the flesh for Nairobi County an issue attributed to among others, inadequate enforcement of environmental regulations by the responsible agencies," Wetang'ula said.
