A senior Israeli official stated that a Gaza ceasefire and hostage-release agreement between Israel and Hamas could be reached within one to two weeks. During Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit to Washington, the official mentioned that Israel would propose a permanent ceasefire during the 60-day truce, contingent on Hamas disarming.
