Ganduje's Ex-Aide Defects to NNPP, Alleging Marginalization

Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana
A former political adviser to ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, has officially dumped the All Progressives Congress for the New Nigeria People’s Party, aligning himself with the Kwankwasiyya movement in Kano.
Bakwana announced his defection on Wednesday during a meeting with his political associates and supporters in Kano.
He attributed his exit from the APC to what he described as internal marginalisation, exclusion, and lack of genuine political direction within the party under Ganduje’s leadership.
According to him, the APC has lost its moral compass and now focuses more on vendetta than public service.
“I have been part of the APC since its inception, but over time, we were treated as outsiders. There was no regard for contribution, no room for internal democracy,” Bakwana said.
He further alleged that rather than building the party, Ganduje and his loyalists were more interested in “harming people and spreading falsehoods.”
Continuing, the Ganduje ex-aide stressed, “They have turned the party into a private estate where only a few can thrive, while the rest are sidelined and silenced.”
Arewa PUNCH reports that Bakwana’s defection is seen as a blow to the APC in Kano, especially as he was considered to be a close ally to Ganduje during his administration.
All efforts to reach the Kano APC Public Relations Officer, Hon. Ahmad S. Aruwa, for comments proved unsuccessful, as he neither picked up calls nor responded to messages sent to him.
