Ganduje at Reps As 2 Kano NNPP Members Join APC - Daily Trust
The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, visited the House of Representatives Chamber on Thursday to witness the defection of two members of opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling party.
The duo, Rep. Abdullahi Sani Rogo representing Rogo/Karaye federal constituency, and Rep. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya federal constituency, defected on Thursday.
Similarly, the member representing Ijesha Oriade/Obokun federal Constituency of Osun State, Rep. Wole Oke, also announced his defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
Speaker Abbas who announced the defections, stated that the members gave their reasons for leaving their parties to join the APC.
However, the Minority Whip, Isa Ali JC, objected saying the defections were against the Constitution.
Ganduje who was accompanied to the Chamber by some party officials, left after the announcement.
Defections, especially to the APC, have depleted the ranks of the opposition.
