Fundraiser Planned for Late Radio Legend Edward Kwach

The family of veteran radio personality Edward Kwach, who passed away while receiving treatment for meningitis at Coptic Hospital in Nairobi, has announced plans for a fundraiser to honor his memory and give him a dignified sendoff. Close friend and fellow media personality Nick Odhiambo shared the announcement on social media, along with a heartfelt tribute to Kwach, whom he described as a legend and pioneer in Kenya’s radio scene. Odhiambo expressed the sentiments of many who viewed Kwach as a mentor.

The fundraiser is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 5, and Tuesday, May 6, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi. Those unable to attend in person can contribute via Paybill number 8065131. The events will serve as a space for mourners to share tributes and memories of the late broadcaster.

Kwach’s death occurred weeks after Caroline Mutoko appealed to Kenyans for blood donations to support him, as he required urgent blood transfusions to increase his hemoglobin and iron levels. Tributes have poured in from fans, colleagues, and celebrities, who remember Kwach as a brilliant communicator whose voice defined an era of Kenyan radio. Maina Kageni of Classic 105 also paid tribute to Kwach, recalling his infectious energy and passion while working together at KISS FM.
