At 1230 BST, the Department of Commerce is expected to announce that the price deflator for personal consumption expenditures reached an annual pace of increase of 2.3% in May.

During the previous month it had advanced at a pace of 2.1%.

The year-on-year rate of core PCE prices was seen ticking higher by one tenth of a percentage point to 2.6%.

Investors will also be keeping an eye out on a final reading for the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey covering the month of June, as well as remarks from at least three top Federal Reserve officials.

Earlier, preliminary CPI readings were due out in France and Spain.

The European Commission's economic sentiment index for June was to be published in June.
