Frank Layden passed away at 93. Here's a collection of the best memories of a Utah Jazz legend

For the Utah Jazz fans who have been around a while, you have, in some way, been introduced to Frank Layden, a true Utah Jazz icon. Today, the news broke that he passed away, and the news sent a wave through social media, prompting memories of Layden to be shared by everyone who knew him. Jazz fans were fortunate to have had Layden pass through our lives. His joyful, witty personality drew everyone in and likely overshadowed a brilliant basketball mind. Frank Layden drafted John Stockton and Karl Malone and brought Jerry Sloan into our lives. He also became a Utah staple, often seen at Jazz games. I don’t have any personal memory of him, but I thought it would be great to share some of the stories from others who did.

There will be much written and said about Frank Layden in the coming days, and all of it’s deserved. His contribution to the community went well beyond sports.

From the video and stories we have, his magnetic personality would draw anyone in who saw him.

Nothing showcased that personality better than Dazzling Dunks and Basketball Bloopers. It was a must-watch for all of us who grew up in the Stockton and Malone era of the Jazz.
