In a poignant moment, a woman was heard crying out in distress, stating that her neighbor was trapped inside the burning structure, highlighting the panic and despair of those affected. The fire left many residents without homes, having lost all their personal belongings in the destruction. The Kibra inferno tragically claimed the lives of eight individuals, including four members of a single family. Additionally, six people sustained serious injuries while attempting to escape and were promptly rushed to the hospital for treatment. Kibra MP Peter Orero confirmed the extent of the casualties and injuries. In response to the crisis, the Kenya Red Cross, in a collaborative effort with community members and the Nairobi Fire Brigade, launched a swift and coordinated rescue operation to save those who were trapped. Furthermore, response teams, working in conjunction with Eagle Hospital, provided essential emergency care to at least 20 individuals who were injured during the fire.
