Foam-laden van catches fire near Hyderabad's LB Nagar; no injuries, traffic hit
HYDERABAD: A moving van carrying foam and fabric caught fire in Alkapuri, LB Nagar, near Rachakonda traffic police commissioner office on Saturday afternoon. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries."The vehicle was transporting foam material for making sofas to the manufacturing unit. We believe the fire erupted due to spontaneous combustion caused by mechanical heat, such as overheating of the engine or exhaust system, that developed in the vehicle," said P Sridhar, station fire officer (SFO), LB Nagar. Upon receiving the information, a fire engine was sent to the scene. The fire was contained within 20 to 30 minutes. According to officials, the driver escaped but fled the scene. Meanwhile, the fire caused traffic disruption in the area, resulting in road closures and leaving many commuters stranded while they waited for the situation to improve.
