Named Among TIME100 Most Influential Companies for the Second Time

Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payment technology company, has once again earned a spot on the TIME100 Most Influential Companies List for 2025, cementing its place among global industry titans. This marks the second time the Nigerian-born fintech company has received the prestigious recognition, following its first appearance in 2021.

Flutterwave appears in the TITANS category of the list, joining the ranks of globally renowned companies such as Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, Netflix, OpenAI, and Universal Music Group.

TIME, in its fifth annual edition of the list, identified 105 companies that are reshaping the future through impact, innovation, ambition, and success. The editorial team gathered nominations across sectors, engaged its network of correspondents and outside experts, and then rigorously evaluated each contender before publishing the final list.

“Being recognized by TIME once again is a true honor. It’s a testament to our team’s incredible work,” said Flutterwave Founder and CEO, Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola.
“Flutterwave today isn’t just powering payments; we’re shaping Africa’s financial future and connecting the continent to the world.”

Founded in 2016, Flutterwave first made global headlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping thousands of African businesses pivot to online platforms. Its 2025 reappearance on the TIME100 list reinforces its continued role as a trailblazer in Africa’s digital economy.

Over the past year, the company has expanded its reach to over 34 African countries, launched operations in Bahrain, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, and powered cross-border payment solutions for major international brands — including a top global ride-hailing firm.

Its flagship remittance product, SendApp by Flutterwave, has also seen rapid growth across the US, UK, and the EU, offering faster and more affordable money transfers for Africans in the diaspora. With 34 licenses across the US, Flutterwave now has near-complete coverage of the American market.

The company has also reinforced its executive leadership and rolled out a new profitability-focused growth strategy aimed at deepening market penetration across Africa and beyond.

Flutterwave’s latest TIME100 honor follows a string of recent accolades. The company ranked #1 on Fast Company’s 2024 Most Innovative Companies list for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It was also featured for the second consecutive year on the FXC Top 100 Cross-Border Payment Companies list.

As Flutterwave continues to evolve from a payment infrastructure builder to a global solutions enabler, its influence on Africa’s digital economy remains undeniable.
