INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Parts of central Indiana are experiencing heavy rain and thunderstorms and three counties are under a flash flood warning.
Boone County, central Howard County and northwestern Tipton County in a flash flood warning, the National Weather Service says. Boone County’s warning lifts at 2 p.m. while Howard and Tipton counties are in a flash flood warning until 2:45 p.m.
National Weather Service reports “flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.”
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office says county highway workers are out and responding to numerous flooded county roads as quickly as possible.
Water from flooded farm fields is flowing onto multiple roads in Howard and Tipton Counties. The National Weather Service says the West Fork Little Wildcat Creek is flowing over a bridge.
Flooded roads are an extreme danger to drivers, you’re urged to turn around, don’t drown.
