First Drive Review: 2026 Porsche Macan GTS Electric – A Familiar Thrill?

Porsche’s newest addition to its EV lineup, the 2026 Porsche Macan GTS Electric, arrives strategically positioned between the Macan 4S and the range-topping Turbo.
True to Porsche’s GTS philosophy, it offers a balance of strong performance and relative value, appealing to enthusiasts who want excitement without paying for the absolute top trim.
The Macan GTS Electric shares much of its hardware with the Turbo, including air suspension, electronically controlled dampers, and a limited-slip differential.
However, its electric motors are slightly detuned, producing 563 horsepower and 704 lb-ft of torque.
This places it comfortably above the 4S while maintaining separation from the Turbo.
Acceleration remains extremely quick, with Porsche estimating a 0–60 mph time of 3.6 seconds.
While marginally slower than the Turbo, the difference is minimal in real-world driving, and the GTS delivers more than enough performance for everyday use.
Range, Charging, and Driving Experience
Although official EPA range figures have not yet been released, the GTS is expected to achieve similar results to the Macan 4S and Turbo, both rated at 288 miles.
Real-world testing suggests the vehicle can travel close to 280 miles on a highway drive, demonstrating strong efficiency for a high-performance electric SUV.
Charging performance is equally impressive. The Macan GTS Electric can recharge from 5% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes, making long-distance travel more practical.
On the road, the GTS behaves like a “tall electric hot hatch,” combining strong acceleration with precise handling.
Its suspension provides a firm but comfortable ride, while Sport mode enhances agility and allows controlled rear-end rotation in tighter corners.
Despite its performance capabilities, the vehicle remains refined and composed during normal driving.

Design, Features, and Overall Value
Visually, the Macan GTS Electric features subtle styling differences from other trims, maintaining Porsche’s sleek and modern design language. Inside, the vehicle includes updated driver-assistance systems, improved towing capability, and refinements to the infotainment system.
However, some familiar drawbacks remain, including heavy use of piano-black interior trim and slightly awkward storage placement. Still, these minor issues do little to diminish the overall experience.
Ultimately, the Macan GTS Electric represents the ideal middle ground in Porsche’s electric SUV lineup.
It delivers exceptional speed, strong range, and engaging driving dynamics while remaining more affordable than the Turbo.
For enthusiasts seeking a high-performance electric SUV that balances excitement with everyday usability, the GTS stands out as the smartest and most well-rounded choice.
