MIAMI (United States) – The official draw for the FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup took place this Thursday at the Regional Office of FIBA in the Americas, located in Miami, USA. Following the draw, the groups for the tournament—scheduled to be held in Irapuato, Mexico, from June 16 to 22—were determined as follows:
1. Puerto Rico 2. Venezuela 3. United States 4. Argentina
1. Mexico 2. Colombia 3. Canada 4. Panama Prior to the draw, teams were paired based on their position in the FIBA Girls Youth Ranking, presented by Nike. Each team was then randomly drawn along with a position number to determine the order of games. During the Group Phase, each team will face every other team in its group to determine the seeding for the Quarter-Finals. The matchups for that round will be as follows: 1st A vs. 4th B, 2nd A vs. 3rd B, 2nd B vs. 3rd A, and 1st B vs. 4th A. The four winners of the Quarter-Finals will advance to the Semi-Finals, while the remaining teams will play for positions 5 through 8. The Semi-Final winners will compete for the gold medal, while the losers will play for the bronze. The FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup awards four spots for the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026.
