The federal government has closed its case against the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, on charges bordering on terrorism.
Prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), on Thursday informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that their evidence with the fifth prosecution witness, who is an operative of the Department of State Security Services, and identified as EEE, has come to an end.
He expressed confidence in the evidence so far tendered before the court, which he said, had satisfied the need to close the case.
Defence counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), informed the court that they would file a no-case submission within the time provided.
Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, granted the defence 14 days to file their no-case submission and written addresses, while the prosecution would respond within 14 days.
Thus, he adjourned the case until July 18 for continuation of hearing.
