Festival Frenzy: Reading & Leeds Fans Uncover Secret Headliners!

Excitement is building for the 2025 Reading and Leeds Festivals, not only for its confirmed headliners such as Travis Scott, Bring Me the Horizon, and Hozier, but also for widespread fan speculation regarding surprise secret sets. The twin festivals, known for their unexpected performances, are set to welcome artists like Chappell Roan for her exclusive UK headline festival appearance, yet it's the unannounced acts that are generating significant buzz among eagle-eyed gig-goers.
Several bands are at the center of these rumors. British rock band Wolf Alice is strongly suspected to perform a secret set. Fans on Reddit noted a significant gap in Saturday's schedule on the Festival Republic stage and linked this to the release of Wolf Alice's fourth studio album, 'The Clearing,' due out on August 22. Many believe their new album's timing makes a surprise appearance a 'logical' possibility.
Similarly, Australian electronic rock band Pendulum is also rumored to be on the lineup. Fans have discussed this possibility, noting that Pendulum is currently touring and is also set to release their newest album, 'Inertia,' on August 22. The simultaneous release of new music from both Wolf Alice and Pendulum on the same day has fueled speculation for their potential secret performances.
The Foo Fighters have also sent their fanbase into a frenzy, with many believing the popular band could be planning a surprise appearance. This speculation intensified after fans noticed perceived gaps in the festival lineup poster and, more significantly, following a throwback Instagram post from The Foo Fighters themselves. The post featured a video of their 2019 Reading set, with a caption directing fans to watch the full performance on BBC iPlayer. This nostalgic nod led many to interpret it as a subtle hint for a secret set at either Reading or Leeds, or even both, despite some skepticism within fan communities regarding the likelihood of such a major headliner performing a surprise show.
Adding to the mystery, fans are also convinced that Chase & Status will take to the stage for a secret set. This theory gained traction after a 'give away' clue was spotted on the festival's official Instagram account. The post featured a silhouette of two people with question marks, which many revellers quickly identified as resembling the electronic duo. Rumors suggest a special event is planned for the secret set at 19:30 on the Aux Stage at Reading.
However, not all news from the festival front has been positive. American rockers House of Protection confirmed they have been forced to pull out of their scheduled appearance. The band announced via Instagram that they could not afford the travel costs for the short trip, primarily because funding from their performance at the Heavy Music Awards was lost due to the awards' cancellation, which was caused by unforeseen health issues affecting a key team member. House of Protection expressed deep regret for disappointing fans but clarified they plan to return to the UK in October to tour with Architects.
