FC Porto Boss Farioli Hails Terem Moffi's Stellar Performance Post-Stuttgart Match

FC Porto secured a vital 2-1 victory over German side Stuttgart in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie, with Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi playing a pivotal role. The match, held at the MHPArena, saw Moffi deliver a solid display, including scoring the opening goal of the night. Beyond his goal, he registered 23 touches, made two recoveries, and engaged in six duels before being substituted in the 59th minute for Deniz Gül. Rodrigo Mora added a second goal for the Dragons, while Deniz Undav scored a late consolation for Stuttgart, giving Porto a crucial advantage heading into the second leg at the Estádio do Dragão.
Porto coach Francesco Farioli lauded Moffi's performance, remarking, "Terem [Moffi] had a great game; he was fantastic in his link-up play with his teammates and in his duels with opponents. He showed a very good understanding of the game." This Europa League match marked Moffi’s first start in the competition since joining Porto on loan from OGC Nice during the January transfer window. Farioli, however, noted that Moffi, along with Seko Fofana, showed some signs of fatigue, which is understandable given his two-month period of inactivity prior to his move to Porto. Despite this, his previous Europa League experience proved instrumental.
Moffi himself has attributed his improved form and recent scoring streak—two goals in four games after a slow start—to Francesco Farioli's meticulous coaching. The Nigerian international, who previously worked with Farioli during his first season at OGC Nice, revealed how the Italian manager focuses on the "little details." Moffi explained, "You stick with the little details. The touch, the right time to show up, the timing, all that. As a player, that's what sets you apart from all the rest of the details. And that’s exactly what he’s been looking to do for the last two or three years."
Expressing immense pride in representing FC Porto, Moffi stated that it is "something very big for me and also for my family." He highlighted the positive team environment, emphasizing the "good energy" and absence of "negativities." Moffi stressed the importance of staying focused, having the will to play, wanting to evolve, and fostering an "authentic family" atmosphere within the squad. As Porto prepares for their upcoming league fixture against Moreirense on Sunday and the return leg against Stuttgart, Moffi is eager to continue finding the net and repay his manager's faith.
