FAWE urges government action over disturbing claims at Alliance Girls

The Forum for African Women Educationalists – Kenya chapter has urged the government and the education sector to intervene following disturbing allegations of sexual misconduct at Alliance Girls High School.
The organisation expressed deep concern following claims published in Africa Uncensored’s Deep Dive newsletter, which accused a teacher and Christian Union patron at the school of sexual misconduct.
The testimonies, shared by current and former students, describe disturbing patterns of abuse that FAWE says demand urgent and thorough investigation by relevant authorities.
“This must not be treated as an isolated incident. It is a wake-up call for systemic reforms that will help eradicate sexual violence in our schools,” FAWE said in a press release.
The organisation called on the Ministry of Education to immediately deploy a specialised team to audit safeguarding measures in all national schools to ensure students are protected and safe from abuse.
“The effective implementation and enforcement of child protection laws remain a significant challenge,” the statement read.
FAWE further urged the Teachers Service Commission to undertake a thorough investigation into the allegations and take disciplinary and legal action in accordance with due process.
“We commend the courage of those who have come forward, as their voices reflect the pressing need for safe and protective environments within our educational institutions,” the organisation said.
The government was also urged to reinforce the enforcement of child protection laws and adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse in learning institutions.
The organisation called on the school administration to take a firm and proactive stance by conducting an internal investigation and fully co-operating with external inquiries.
