Deepak Tijori is a film director and actor who has worked in Bollywood and Gujarati films for several years now. The actor, who became a household name after playing Shekhar in Aamir’s debut film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, is all set to impress the audience with his upcoming project, Echoes of Us. While promoting the short film, Deepak sat down for an exclusive interview with and got candid about several things.

During the chat, Deepak Tijori opened up about being a final choice for Maine Pyar Kiya alongside Salman Khan, but Sooraj Barjatya chose the latter. Scroll below to read the snippets and watch the full interview.

When asked if he was the original choice as Prem in Sooraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyaar Kiya, Deepak Tijori said, “Nahi, nahi original choice matlab yeh tha ki humlog bahut logon ne audition diya tha. Do humlog finalist the, aur do finalist hone ke baad abh. Yaahan tak baat mujhe bola gaya tha ki tum ho, ki tum selected ho. But, logically jab mujhe mana karne ke liye bulaya gaya toh mujhe bahut justified reason laga. Main bhi uss mamle mein bahut practical raha hoon. Meri zindagi kaafi tough rahi hai, toh mujhe kabhi shock nahi lagta hai ki yeh bhi hua hai mere saath.”

He added, “Toh mujhe bahut practically, pyaar se Sooraj ji ne bataya ki Deepak ji undoubtedly aap dono ki auditions humlogo ne scan kiya, families ko dikhaai aur jo auratein hai they loved Salman for his looks, cuteness. You performed really well, but I think, you know, it’s a love story, Deepak ji. So, he was so sweet, and I agreed with him. I said to him, Sir, I am hurt, but at the same time, you are right. I never felt aisa kiya mere saath, I just walked back and said no worries.”
