Ex-Zimbabwe Rugby Star Campbell Nyakudya Faces Horrific Allegations in Court
Former Zimbabwe Under-18 rugby player Campbell Nyakudya has been brought before the Harare magistrate's court, facing serious allegations of drugging, raping, and robbing a 25-year-old woman after a social outing in the capital. Nyakudya, who was once recognized for his speed on the rugby field, appeared before magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa on charges of rape and theft. He was not required to enter a plea and was subsequently released on US$200 bail, with his trial set to commence at a later date.
According to the State's account, the incident is alleged to have taken place on October 25. The complainant, identified as a socialite, was initially enjoying drinks with friends at La Parada Restaurant before the group moved to Karma Night Club, also located in Harare. While at Karma Night Club, the complainant briefly left to use the bathroom. Upon her return, she discovered that her friends had departed. Nyakudya was reportedly present at the table with another woman at this time. The State outline states that the complainant then picked up her glass and continued drinking while attempting to locate her friends.
