Ex-Trump Adviser Dina Powell McCormick to Spearhead Meta's Ambitious AI Expansion!
Dina Powell McCormick, a distinguished executive with a background as a top adviser to US presidents, is set to join Meta Platforms Inc. as President and Vice Chairman. This newly established senior management role will see her report directly to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Her mandate includes overseeing Meta’s comprehensive strategy, with a particular emphasis on developing AI infrastructure and cultivating strategic partnerships with governments and investors to secure funding for large-scale data center and AI initiatives. Her appointment is a key move in guiding the company’s next phase of global expansion.
Powell McCormick brings an extensive professional background, spanning over 25 years in the fields of finance, public service, and economic development. A significant portion of her career, 16 years, was spent at Goldman Sachs, where she served on the firm’s Management Committee. She also led its Global Sovereign Investment Banking division and spearheaded influential programs such as 10,000 Women, 10,000 Small Businesses, and One Million Black Women, all designed to foster global economic growth and opportunity.
Her public service record is equally impressive, having advised two US presidents. Under the George W. Bush administration, she held the positions of Senior White House Advisor and Assistant Secretary of State for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Later, during the Donald Trump administration, she served as Deputy National Security Advisor, offering crucial guidance on global strategy and national security issues.
Prior to her move to Meta, Powell McCormick held the roles of Vice Chair, President, and Head of Global Client Services at BDT & MSD Partners, where she was responsible for managing major global investments and client relationships. Furthermore, she briefly served on Meta’s board of directors before resigning in December, providing her with valuable familiarity with the company and its operational dynamics.
In her new capacity at Meta, Powell McCormick will be instrumental in guiding the company’s overall strategic direction, supervising the execution of multi-billion-dollar infrastructure and AI investments, and developing strategic capital partnerships to bolster Meta’s long-term investment capacity. CEO Mark Zuckerberg underscored her global finance experience and deep relationships as critical assets for navigating the company’s forthcoming phase of growth, highlighting her unique suitability for the President and Vice Chairman role.
