Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello Declares President Tinubu a Divine Savior for Nigeria

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has vocally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as the “angel” divinely appointed to rectify Nigeria’s challenges. Bello made these remarks on Saturday during an endorsement rally for both President Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, an event broadcast on TVC. He emphasized that Nigerians should not passively await a mythical, winged angel to descend and fix the country, but rather recognize President Tinubu as the active force undertaking this crucial task.
Addressing a gathering of supporters, Bello articulated the long-held desire among Nigerians for a “new Nigeria.” He cited several key reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration as concrete steps towards this national renewal. These reforms include the significant removal of the oil subsidy, the introduction of student loan programs, and the floating of the exchange rate. Bello highlighted that these measures align with previous aspirations for a Nigeria with less dependence on subsidies, accessible student financing, a dynamic exchange rate, increased financial prosperity for both government and individuals, and a greater influx of foreign investment.
Bello urged citizens to temper expectations of immediate miracles, reiterating that President Tinubu is already diligently working to address the nation’s issues. While acknowledging that no government can resolve all problems simultaneously due to “long years of decay in the system,” he expressed confidence that President Tinubu is actively fixing infrastructure and other deep-seated challenges. He called for unwavering support for the President’s ongoing efforts, stating, “Mr. President is fixing it, and he will fix it. We will support him to fix it.”
Beyond immediate policy, the former governor also underscored the profound importance of leadership leaving behind meaningful and lasting legacies. He declared that “leadership without legacy is zero,” implying that a tenure without significant positive impact is tantamount to never having held power. Reflecting on his own political journey, Bello expressed a sense of fulfillment, stating, “Today, I am happy. I feel fulfilled. This is my legacy. These are my legacies. Some of my legacies are watching me.”
