EU Sues Countries Over Digital Services Act Implementation

The European Commission has initiated legal action against several EU member states for their failure to adequately implement the Digital Services Act (DSA). According to a statement released by the Commission, the Czech Republic, Spain, Cyprus, Poland, and Portugal have been referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union due to their ineffective implementation of the DSA.
The core issue lies in the countries' failure to designate or empower a national Digital Services Coordinator (DSC). Additionally, these nations have not established clear regulations regarding penalties for DSA infringements. The DSA is a significant piece of legislation designed to compel online companies to enhance their efforts in addressing illegal and harmful content disseminated through their platforms.
