'Ernest Kumi was a bright light in our politics' - Movement for Change

The Movement for Change has eulogised the late Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Kumi, describing the late MP as “a bright light in our political landscape,” praising his energy, dedication, and commitment to public service.

In a statement issued on July 7, 2025, and signed the Spokesperson, Andrew Appiah-Danquah said that it received the news of his passing with shock and sadness.

Movement for Change noted that Kumi’s life held tremendous promise for Ghana’s progress, making his untimely death all the more painful.

“Ernest Kumi was a bright light in our political landscape, a young man whose energy, dedication, and sense of purpose offered hope not only to the people of Akwatia but to the entire country.

“It is profoundly heartbreaking when such a vibrant and promising public servant, whose life held so much potential for our nation’s progress, is taken from us so abruptly,” the statement said.

The late Ernest Yaw Kusi otherwise known as "Akwatia Star Boy" passed away on Monday, July 7,2025.

His death comes just months after a legal battle concerning his eligibility to serve as MP.
