This followed the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) review, which increased the prices of super petrol, diesel, and kerosene.

EPRA revised prices up by KSh 8.99 per litre of petrol, KSh 8.67 per litre of diesel and KSh 9.65 per litre of kerosene.

A litre of super petrol, diesel and kerosene will now retail at KSh 186.31, KSh 171.58 and KSh 156.58, respectively.

"The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020," read EPRA's statement in part.

In June 2025, petrol, diesel, and kerosene retailed at KSh 177.32 per litre after a KSh 2.69 increase, while diesel and kerosene will cost KSh 162.91 and KSh 146.93 per litre, respectively.

The regulator cited an increase in the landed cost of imported petroleum products to the country.

Super petrol landed cost increased by 6.45%, diesel by 6.27% and kerosene by 6.95%, between May and June 2025.

"The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increased by 6.45% from $590.24 per cubic metre in May 2025 to $628.30 per cubic metre in June 2025; Diesel increased by 6.27% from $580.23 per cubic metre to $616.59 per cubic metre while Kerosene increased by 6.95% from $569.00 per cubic metre to $608.34 per cubic metre over the same period," the EPRA report continued in part.

The regulator also cited high international prices of Murban Crude Oil in May, compared to June 2025 at $72.63 (KSh 9,384) and $67.73 (KSh 8,751) per barrel, respectively.
