End of an Era: Girl Scouts Announce Retirement of Two Beloved Cookie Flavors After 2025 Season!

Good news for those with a sweet tooth: Girl Scout cookie season has officially commenced, offering beloved treats such as Lemonades and Thin Mints from January through April, with specific dates varying by region. However, the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) has announced that two more cookie varieties, Toast-Yay! and S’mores, will be added to the retired list after the 2025 season.
The S’mores cookie, introduced in 2017, aimed to capture the essence of the classic campfire snack, packaging graham cracker, marshmallow, and chocolate into a single delightful treat. This cookie was available in two versions: one fully coated in chocolate and another featuring a plain graham cracker exterior. Toast-Yay!, on the other hand, had an even shorter run, selling for only four years. True to its name, this cookie mimicked the appearance and taste of French toast, complete with a layer of icing and shaped like a slice of bread.
While the news may bring disappointment to fans, GSUSA indicates that this decision is part of their routine process. A representative stated that the organization “routinely reevaluate[s] our cookie lineup to make room for new innovations,” suggesting that the discontinuation of Toast-Yay! and Girl Scout S’mores “may lead to something new and delicious.” As of now, however, no information regarding new cookie flavors for 2025 or beyond has been released.
Historically, only a select few of the organization’s most popular products, such as Thin Mints and Samoas, have maintained their presence in the lineup across multiple generations of Girl Scouts. Although S’mores enjoyed a longer tenure than many other discontinued cookies, Toast-Yay! struggled to gain significant traction, particularly as it was introduced during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Toast-Yay! and S’mores are still available for purchase during the current season, though consumers should be aware that local booths may have limited inventories of these retiring flavors. An online tracker is available for locating sellers in your area, though it does not provide specific information on which cookies are available at each location.
