'Eleceed' Just Won Big Time as Anime Adaptation Gets Confirmed for 2026
With over 300 chapters to date, Eleceed is one of the most popular webtoons on the LINE Webtoon app. The series, by Jeho Son and Zhena, has conquered the hearts of manhwa readers, and is now coming for anime fanatics as it has been greenlit for an anime that will air in 2026.
Dandelion Animation Studio is responsible for the animation production of the upcoming series. The story focuses on Jiwoo, who has lightning-fast reflexes, and Kayden, a secret agent who has locked himself inside the body of a plump cat. They need to work together to fight opposing forces, that is, once they can get over their own skirmishes.
More and more popular webtoons have been getting adapted into anime in recent years. From TBATE and Tower of God to Solo Leveling, quite a few well-known manhwa titles have received their anime debut, and Eleceed is the latest series to join the list. The anime adaptation of Eleceed has been greenlit for a 2026 release window.
Studio Dandelion has previously assisted in the 3DCGI departments of popular anime like Haikyu!!, Kingdom, Mushoku Tensei, and Berserk. It has also worked on movies belonging to the One Piece, Slam Dunk, and Lupin III franchises. A promotional video for the Eleceed anime has been revealed as well.
The short video shows glimpses of the main characters and a few scenes showing off the powers of the characters. By the looks of it, the anime will offer a blend of 2D and 3D CGI animation. The anime is being directed by Hiroshi Nishikiori, who has previously worked on Honey Lemon Soda, Azumanga Daioh, Trigun Seven, and other hit series. Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) is in charge of the scripts, while Minami Sakura (Gridman Universe) is the character designer.

While many webtoons have received an anime adaptation, not all of them have been successful. Solo Leveling was able to break the internet due to its crazy good animation quality and the countless aura-farming scenes of Jinwoo, but the same cannot be said about other adaptations. TBATE in particular was an extraordinary failure, and fans are now sceptical of any webtoon to anime adaptation.
Eleceed itself is not free of its limitations as a webtoon, and once translated into an anime, they might just become glaring flaws. The webtoon has a vague plot, with the story not geared to achieve anything in particular. The first couple of chapters are especially slow-paced. It is a fun to read series, but there is a distinct lack of proper world-building.
The cats in the story are one of its only upsides, but even they cannot be held responsible for carrying the plot on their tiny furry backs. It is a fluffy work of fiction with simple and fast resolutions to problems, but the story can be summarized as Jiwoo getting into trouble and Kayden bailing him out on most occasions.
There seems to be a lack of consequences for Jiwoo’s actions, and some fans have even called him a bland character due to a lack of significant motivations. There is also little to no character development throughout the webtoon. Of course, it has its own fanbase who love it because of the fun moments and action scenes. The series might succeed if Studio Dandelion can successfully capture its comedy and action animation, as well as power-ups.
Nonetheless, the anime adaptation of Eleceed has excited its fans and is a great opportunity for the studio to prove itself. Even if the plot has its restrictions and obstacles, it might find its appropriate fanbase amongst comedy and fluff lovers.
