Eko Heritage honours Kikelomo Solomon Ayeni with award for Excellence
The Eko Heritage Awards has announced Kikelomo Solomon Ayeni, a multi-talented visual artist, photographer, writer, and passionate child protection advocate, will receive a Special Recognition for Excellence in Visual Art and her remarkable contributions to promoting the cause of women and children through art.
A recipient of both the World Bank Scholarship and the UK’s Global Talent Endorsement, Kikelomo’s body of work is a striking fusion of creativity and social advocacy. Her artistic lens captures the essence of resilience, womanhood, trauma, and transformation. Through her camera, pen, and public service, she tells the stories many are too afraid to voice.
From Makoko, Lagos, to Berlin, London, Palma, and New York, Kikelomo’s exhibitions have earned global attention, most recently showing at ArtExpo New York, Blue Koi Gallery Korea, and The Holy Art Gallery in London. Each exhibition is not just a showcase of skill but a platform for justice, healing, and human connection.
Beyond galleries, Kikelomo has been a speaker at platforms like the United States Consulate Lagos, British High Commission Lagos, Enterprise Development Centre-Pan Atlantic University Lagos, and the Ake Book Festival, where she has continued to inspire the next generation of creatives and advocates.
Currently based in the United Kingdom, Kikelomo continues to expand her impact as Art Curator at Tayese Academy of Arts and Culture, London, and Art Consultant at Red19 Global Solutions, UK. Her visual storytelling, amplified by deep technical knowledge in photography and design, is marked by both excellence and empathy.
She is also the author of “Kikelomo – The Memoir for an Abused Girl,” “Am I Cursed,” and “Unfair”—books that delve deeply into trauma, healing, and forgiveness.
Kikelomo’s award is not only a celebration of her artistic achievements but a recognition of her unwavering dedication to humanity.
“This award is a reminder that art is not just a luxury, it is a tool for healing, a voice for the unheard, and a powerful force for change,” she said.
