ECOWAS Youth Alliance Recognises General Laka's Counter Terrorism Efforts

The National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Major General Adamu Laka, has been honoured by the ECOWAS Youth Alliance for his dedication to counterterrorism efforts and exceptional leadership qualities.

A statement by the head of Strategic Communication, Office of the National Security Adviser, Abu Michael said General Laka was handed the award by the officials at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja Nigeria’s Capital.

The award recognised General Laka as “Africa’s Beacon of Hope.”

General Laka in a remark commended the campaigns by youth groups against drugs and substance-abuse among the youths population in the region.

According to the NCTC Coordinator, many violent-related cases are induced by drug abuse.

The counter terrorism boss also called on youth organisations in the region and the Sahel to work towards ensuring the return of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger back to the ECOWAS’ fold, saying “

The officials of the ECOWAS Youth Alliance led by James Uneze from Nigeria, and the Secretary, Austine Kwassi from Cote D’Ivoire presented the award and medal of “Champion” to General Laka.
