Dull bookings for Return of the Dragon & Dhanush's JNAK due to poor promotions

Published 2 months ago1 minute read

Two youthful Tamil entertainers, Dragon and Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, were released yesterday. While the response for both the movies in Tamil Nadu has been decent, the Telugu dubbed versions, Return of the Dragon and Jabilamma Neeku Antha Kopama, are struggling to find audiences in the twin Telugu states.

Return of the Dragon’s unit held a pre-release event in Hyderabad a couple of days ahead of the film’s release. Barring this event, there have been hardly any aggressive promotions for the Pradeep Ranganathan, Anupama Parameswaran, and Kayadu Lohar-starrer. On the other hand, Jabilamma Neeku Antha Kopama’s pre-release event was only attended by the film’s relatively new cast. The film’s director, Dhanush, who was shooting for his Bollywood film in New Delhi, skipped the event.

Due to the lack of strong promotions, the opening day collections for for Return of the Dragon and Jabilamma Neeku Antha Kopama in the twin Telugu states have been negligible. Even the weekend bookings for both movies are very poor. Incidentally, the critics’ reviews and the word of mouth among movie lovers have been encouraging for both movies. The box office collections might see a rise if the makers of both the movies step up the promotions at least over the weekend.
