On June 25, 2025, and in other previous demonstrations, goons infiltrated peaceful gatherings and took advantage of the chaos to vandalise businesses, whose owners are now leaving nothing to chance.

In a video shared by Yankee Dee +254 on Facebook, welders are seen hard at work on doors that lead into business premises in Nairobi ahead of the planned July 7 demos.

Many traders have faulted the drawer doors that are common in the city centre, saying that they open like curtains, especially once the padlock is broken.

Businesswoman Dama wa Spares gave some insight into what business people went through at the hands of goons as she acknowledged the newest move to protect businesses.

"Hiding in the bedroom with tears rolling down your face so that no one sees your pain, waiting until everyone has gone to sleep so they don’t witness you falling apart; that’s a pain I wouldn’t wish on anyone," she said.
"To the business owners who were greatly affected, especially those in the electronics and clothing sectors along Moi Avenue, OTC, and all other affected areas within the CBD; I understand the pain of building a business. Watching it fall apart is a different kind of heartbreak. May God intervene in your situation, in Jesus’ name," she added.

Evans Miyoma:

"Are we saying welders are benefiting in and out of the government 😂😂😂."

Approved Motors:

"In every crisis there is an opportunity."

Bush Kelvin:

"Just connect your shop with direct live wire, at least 4mm, supply 63a then relax and enjoy the movie 🤣🤣.Wait for the news."

"Traders I salute you, never say die. Like the legendary phoenix, you rise from the ashes."

Maina Gakuru:

"Hii milango inafungwa kama curtains are useless, you hit paddrock hapo chini inafunguka. Shida huwezi fit real metal doors shop ya rental."

"Nimekua hapo Luthuli Avenue leo mafundi wa welding kazi iko juu. Kila kitu hufanyika na sababu 👌🏿."

Previously, a middle-aged woman whose business was badly vandalised moved many people online after she knelt and started praying.

In a heartwrenching video, the woman was seen outside her shop, which had been looted with reckless abandon, while phone covers and papers were strewn all over her corridor.

Some papers were left along the corridors, and she knelt right there in the mess, declaring that those who caused the mess would never know any peace.
