Drake and Josh first met on The Amanda Show in 1999 before they were later cast together on Drake & Josh. The A Fairly Odd Movie star explained that he had opened up to his mother about Brian’s abuse during the filming break between the two shows.

“The big break between Drake & Josh and Amanda Show is when I told my mom what was going on,” Drake said. “And then when we shot the pilot, we were in the middle of the investigation, but nobody had known anything because Brian hadn’t been arrested.”

Drake & Josh was filmed on the same set as The Amanda Show, where Drake and Brian met and where the sexual abuse began. The actor said it was like having a “monster” in his “safe place.”

“That’s the only place I feel comfortable, when I get to set and hang out with you guys, and we go goof around and put on our masks and wigs and makeup and make people laugh and slide around and get dirty,” Drake said.

Drake said that although Brian didn’t work on Drake & Josh, he visited the set while they filmed the pilot episode, which made him uncomfortable. “I know that this guy’s about to get arrested,” he continued. “I know that s–t is about to hit the fan, and nobody in here knows it.”
