Double Tragedy in Taraba: Student and Boyfriend Found Dead in Shocking Incident

A disturbing mystery has unfolded surrounding the deaths of two individuals connected to Taraba State University (TSU), a 100-level student, Comfort Jimtop Oliver, and her suspected boyfriend, Emmanuel Kefas. The series of events began with the discovery of Comfort's lifeless body in her boyfriend's house in Jalingo, the state capital, on Friday, September 12, 2025. Comfort, a Mass Communication student and an indigene of Takum Local Government Area, was identified as a member of the Kuteb ethnic group.
The circumstances of Comfort's death were initially unclear, prompting the state police command to launch an immediate investigation. Preliminary findings by a senior police officer involved in the investigation revealed that empty bottles of hard drinks were found beside the bed where she died. At the time the incident was reported to the university's gate station, the house, which reportedly had over 15 tenants, was deserted, and the room's owner, believed to be Comfort's boyfriend, was nowhere to be found.
The mystery deepened significantly when Emmanuel Kefas, a 2024 graduate of Human Kinetics from TSU and Comfort's suspected lover, was also found dead. His body was discovered in the Tudiri community, a few meters away from Jalingo. Residents of the area expressed strong suspicions that Kefas might have committed suicide following Comfort's death in his house.
Both Comfort and Emmanuel were residents of Bakasi, living approximately 200 meters apart near Dr. Rapha Memorial Guest Inn, by the Vice-Chancellor's Gate in Jalingo. Comfort was said to have been in a relationship with Emmanuel since he was a student at the institution. The Taraba State Police Command continues its investigation into both deaths, aiming to uncover the full cause and sequence of these tragic events.
