Do what is right or face retribution, Ekiti monarch warn politicians
A prominent monarch in Ekiti State, the Olootunja of Ootunja-Ekiti, Oba Joseph Fagbamila, has charged all political actors nationwide to imitate God’s actions, teachings and do what is right not to face divine retribution.
Oba Fagbamila gave the charge, at the weekend, during the second edition of Easter Family Life Thanksgiving Service, organised by the lawmaker representing Ekiti North 1 (Ikole/Oye) Federal Constituency, Akin Rotimi, in Ikole Ekiti Local Council of the state.
The monarch, while speaking at the programme tagged: “Rebuilding Families, Renewing Nigeria: The Role of the Church,”emphasised the need for all politicians to emulate God’s ways, saying that politics is not a blockage to the sanctuary if political actors are godly.
He said: “I am not part of those people who believe one cannot inherit the kingdom of God if you are a politician.
“All I know is that if you emulate God’s way and do the right things, you will definitely get to the sanctuary but if you do otherwise, you will face the divine retribution.
“If the home is good, the society will be okay. I will charge all parents, especially men, to put God first in their endeavours and seek His grace to take total control over their marriage.”
Meanwhile, Rotimi, who spoke with journalists, said the gathering was borne out of the desire to support his constituents in their faith and to reaffirm the centrality of strong family values in nation-building.
The lawmaker said that Nigeria could only flourish when families are united through the restoration of dignity, contentment, hard work and by reshaping collective orientation through godly principles.
He, however, lamented the false ideologies and moral relativism associated with modern-day marriage, which has exposed children to online activities that praise social vices and ridicule good virtues.
He, therefore, urged religious institutions to rise as a moral compass and guide families back to God’s divine design.
“This gathering is more than a moment of praise and reflection. It is a declaration of faith and conviction.
“As a public official and the representative of over 500,000 people across 40 communities, I will continue to do my best to address the many gaps in public service delivery. This commitment is reflected both in my legislative efforts and in the work of attracting development and empowerment to our homeland with a deliberate focus on reaching the most vulnerable among us and ensuring that no one is left behind.
“My mission as a transformation agent in the public service is not merely a career choice; it is a calling rooted in, and continually inspired by my Christian faith. It is this spiritual foundation that shapes my values, informs my priorities and sustains my resolve to serve with integrity, compassion and purpose,” he said.
In his sermon, Pastor Sola Osunmakinde urged Ekiti residents to prioritise God in their endeavours.
The cleric said that God is the only divine entity endowed with the celestial power to restore lost glories, urging families to stay united to build Nigeria.
