Dibrugarh: In a bid to allay fears surrounding the proposed
tea tourism project
at the
Lepetkata Tea Estate
in Dibrugarh, the Kolkata-based
Luxmi Tea Company
has assured that the ambitious initiative will not only preserve the livelihoods of tea workers but also create new opportunities for local entrepreneurship and employment.
The company, on Friday, clarified that the project aims to integrate education, community engagement and employment generation, ensuring holistic development for the tea community and adjoining areas.
Addressing media persons at the Assam Branch of Indian Tea Association (ABITA) office in Dibrugarh, Luxmi Tea Company director Sunil Munshi said, "Luxmi Tea Company has long been a pioneer in prioritising the welfare of its workers as a family and ensuring holistic development. This project is a continuation of that commitment. The tea tourism project will utilise only a minuscule portion of the tea estate, and the tea garden will continue to function as before. There will be no job losses."
