Desperate Mother's Home Gutted by 'Feral' Children, Faces Public Outcry

A mother, identified as Amy and currently pregnant with her fourth daughter, has garnered significant attention and controversy after sharing her experience of having to completely overhaul her three daughters' shared bedroom. She described the room as being in a "feral" and "state," leading her to undertake a major renovation, which she is doing as a Christmas present for her youngsters. However, her social media posts detailing the messy room and subsequent transformation have drawn a barrage of criticism from online trolls.
Amy, a content creator from Ribble Valley District, Lancashire, explained to her 30,000 TikTok followers that her children had left their bedroom in disarray. She pointed out that thick, washable paint had been picked off the walls by the girls when they were bored. Additionally, a pink blind had been ripped down, replaced by old, mismatched grey curtains, contributing to a general sense of chaos that was "doing her head in." She even mentioned using red paint from another room to try and temporarily fix the walls, highlighting the extent of the damage.
The mother further detailed her redecoration plans, noting that the room had "way too many chest of drawers" because her daughters had "so many clothes." To address this, she and her family "smashed them all up" and are bringing in a new wardrobe, a triple bunk bed, and another chest of drawers, hoping to save space. The extensive renovation also involves stripping off the old red paint, which she described as a significant challenge, and reglossing surfaces that had turned yellow. She posted her initial progress under the username @m.g.c_24_7, and the clip quickly amassed 83,700 views within 24 hours.
Despite Amy's efforts to transform the space, the online reaction was largely negative. Viewers were left "gobsmacked" by the state of the bedroom, but instead of offering support, many TikTok users slammed Amy's parenting skills. Comments included accusations that she had let the room get into that condition and suggestions that she should teach her daughters "respect" and "manners." One user specifically asked, “Sooo teaching them to respect you, the home and their things has never been considered?” Another expressed concern about the safety of stacking furniture, to which Amy responded by clarifying that all furniture had been bolted into the wall for safety.
