Massive Fire Engulfs Derelict Mill in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service deployed eight fire engines and three specialist appliances to tackle the inferno, which broke out around 7:15 PM at what locals identified as Pioneers Mill.

Crews drew water from the nearby River Irwell and used turntable ladders to battle the blaze. Full service updates are available on theGMFRS official website.

This is the second fire in two years on Milltown Street, following a separate blaze at a derelict mill in September last year and another at a plastic storage unit in 2022.

Residents were advised to keep windows and doors shut due to heavy smoke. Greater Manchester Police confirmed an extended cordon was in place as a precautionary measure.
