The election campaign has escalated as both major political parties—BJP and AAP—make their final pushes ahead of polling day. The BJP has significantly ramped up its campaign, accusing AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal of being involved in the Delhi Excise Policy case. BJP leaders have also levelled charges of corruption and misgovernance against the AAP leadership. The party is placing its confidence in securing a victory with its “double engine” administration, which emphasises strong governance at both the central and state levels.
On the other hand, the AAP is focused on showcasing its achievements, particularly in the education and healthcare sectors. As the party aims for a third consecutive term in office, it highlights the strides made in these areas to appeal to the electorate. AAP has been framing its governance record as a testament to its commitment to improving public services in the National Capital Territory (NCT).
Several high-profile candidates have emerged in the race for the Delhi Assembly seats. In New Delhi, BJP has fielded Parvesh Verma, a former Member of Parliament and the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, to challenge Arvind Kejriwal. The Congress party has nominated Sandeep Dixit, the son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dixit, to contest the same seat.
In the Kalkaji constituency, the BJP has put forward former MP Ramesh Bidhuri to take on Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, while Congress has nominated former MLA Alka Lamba.

Several high-profile candidates are in the fray:
The Congress party, which ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has had difficulty in recent elections. The party failed to win any seats in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, where AAP achieved a sweeping victory with 62 out of the 70 seats. The BJP, despite being the main opposition party, won only 8 seats.
As the 2025 elections approach, the dynamics of Delhi’s political contest are shifting. While AAP has firmly established itself as the ruling party with significant accomplishments in governance, the BJP is attempting to reclaim power through a concerted campaign that targets corruption allegations against AAP leaders.
