Davido Shakes the Music World: Announces Blockbuster New Album 'Oriadé'!

Fifteen years into his illustrious career, Afrobeats superstar Davido continues to captivate audiences and innovate, announcing his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Oriadé, set to arrive on July 31, 2026. The announcement, marked by a cinematic social media teaser, suggests a deeply intentional project. The trailer features Davido in an embroidered burgundy-and-black traditional outfit, with a throne and crown, accompanied by the caption: “The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne.”

The title “Oriadé” carries significant cultural weight, deriving from the Yoruba words “ori” (destiny) and “adé” (crown), translating to “the crowned head.” This choice is more than just creative; it reflects Davido’s personal lineage, as he hails from the Adeleke family, a royal house in Ede, Osun State, and Oriade is one of his own names. This album is poised to explore themes of lineage, identity, and his journey in music.

Reflecting on his career, Davido shared with Billboard, “Over fifteen years ago, I decided to trust something I couldn’t fully explain. I just knew music was my destiny. The biggest blessings often come from betting on yourself, even when the destination isn’t in sight yet.”

The first glimpse into the album’s sound comes with the lead single “I Know Who I Be,” featuring South African producers Jazzwrld and GL Ceejay. This new project follows his successful 2025 album, 5ive, which impressively peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard World Albums chart. 5ive featured popular collaborations such as “With You” with Omah Lay, along with tracks featuring Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Becky G, Shenseea, and YG Marley, solidifying its place as one of the most-loved Afrobeats records of that year.

Davido’s recent achievements further underscore his global impact. This year alone, he made his debut at Coachella, surprised the crowd with Adekunle Gold, and earned a spot on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack alongside Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado. Oriadé marks the next significant chapter in his evolving musical narrative, promising another compelling body of work for his global fanbase.
