Dangote meets Donald Trump during Qatar visit

Published 12 hours ago1 minute read

Billionaire and founder of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote was among those who exchanged pleasantries with US President Donald Trump during his visit to Qatar on Wednesday.

A video circulating online shows Dangote being introduced to Trump during the American leader’s meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Trump, who arrived at Hamad International Airport for the second leg of his Middle East tour, was welcomed personally by the Emir.

His arrival featured a dramatic military escort with fighter jets and a motorcade of Tesla Cybertrucks.

During the visit, Trump and Sheikh Al Thani oversaw the signing of a massive deal between Qatar Airways and Boeing for the purchase of up to 210 jets, reportedly worth $96 billion.

The agreement is one of the largest in Boeing’s history.

The visit also drew attention after Qatar presented a luxury Boeing 747-8 aircraft—estimated at $400 million—as a potential replacement for Air Force One.

The offer sparked bipartisan debate in the US over the legality and appropriateness of accepting such a gift from a foreign government.

Although it’s unclear what was discussed between Dangote and Trump, the president was accompanied by a high-profile delegation of American business leaders, including tech billionaire Elon Musk.
