'Danger' level heat index to hit QC's Science Garden, Clark Airport

MANILA, Philippines — Two areas in Luzon are expected to experience the highest heat index at 46°C on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Based on its 5 p.m. Sunday bulletin, the state weather bureau said these areas are the Science Garden in Quezon City and Clark Airport in Pampanga.

Meanwhile, Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija may also experience extreme heat at 45°C.

Aside from the three areas that might fall under the “danger” category, 45 others might also experience a heat index of 33°C to 41°C or be placed under “the extreme caution” category. The state weather bureau explained that at this level of heat index, an individual may experience heat cramps and exhaustion. Heat stroke may also be possible with continued exposure to the sun.
