Dalori Takes Over as Acting APC Chairman Amidst Leadership Transition

Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori has officially assumed office as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje. Ganduje’s resignation, which was tendered on Friday due to alleged health issues, was formally accepted by the National Working Committee (NWC) during its meeting on Monday. Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary, and Suraj Ajibola, the National Secretary, confirmed the development, with Ajibola formally presenting Ganduje’s resignation letter to the NWC. In line with Article 14 of the APC constitution, a motion was moved and seconded for Dalori, previously the Deputy National Chairman (North), to assume the acting chairmanship.

Addressing the NWC in his inaugural meeting, Dalori emphasized that his appointment was not a personal triumph but a significant responsibility, which he embraced with humility, full awareness of the challenges, and the high expectations from millions of party members and supporters. He paid tribute to his predecessor, Dr. Ganduje, for his experienced leadership, steadfast commitment, and clear sense of direction since assuming office in August 2023. Dalori extended heartfelt gratitude to Ganduje on behalf of the APC family, wishing him a full recovery.

Dalori pledged to lead the party with transparency, inclusiveness, and unity of purpose, advocating for a period of "consolidation — not conflict; for maturity — not division; and for vision — not personal ambition." He urged party members to strengthen internal processes, reconnect with their grassroots, and re-energize party structures across all levels to prepare for success in the 2027 general election. He stressed the importance of avoiding actions and words that could breed disunity during political transitions, urging focus on the shared belief in Nigeria’s promise and the APC’s future.

Furthermore, Dalori reaffirmed the APC’s firm and unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold reform agenda. He described the 'Renewed Hope Agenda' not merely as a campaign slogan but as a living roadmap addressing fundamental challenges in the economy, security, and national cohesion. He asserted that the APC remains the essential political vehicle to drive this transformation and pledged full loyalty and partnership to the President.

The Acting National Chairman announced that a practical roadmap would soon be unveiled to guide the party during this interim period. This roadmap will cover crucial areas such as party discipline, reconciliation, communication, member mobilization, and broader stakeholder engagement. He called on all party members and stakeholders to renew their commitment to the APC, urging them to work together with sincerity, courage, and faith in their mission to honor the past, serve the present, and prepare for a brighter future as one united and determined APC family.

Key officials present at the NWC meeting included Senator Ajibola Bashiru (National Secretary), Barrister Festus Fuanter (Deputy National Secretary), Hon. Victor Giadom (National Vice Chairman South-South), Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke (National Vice Chairman South-West), Alhaji Muhammed Suleiman Arugungu (National Organizing Secretary), Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu (National Vice Chairman South-East), Dayo Israel (National Youth Leader), Are Tolu Bankole (National Leader Persons With Disabilities), Hon.
