Katsina Governor Radda Dismisses 2027 Vice Presidential Ambition Rumours

Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Radda, has unequivocally dismissed widespread speculation concerning his alleged aspirations for the Vice Presidential slot in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The Governor firmly asserted that his singular and unwavering focus remains on diligently serving the people of Katsina State, a mandate he actively sought and was entrusted with. These rumors, which he addressed publicly, stemmed from unconfirmed reports and calls from certain quarters within Katsina State, suggesting that President Bola Tinubu might consider a new running mate for a potential re-election bid in 2027, possibly leading to Radda's consideration for the nation's second-highest office.

Governor Radda made these clarifying statements during a significant event held in the Dutsinma Local Government Area. The occasion was dedicated to the distribution of essential aid, including bags of grains and cash assistance, to victims severely affected by insecurity within the region. He directly confronted the circulating narratives, stating, “I’ve seen posters and messages suggesting I’m pursuing another office. Let me be clear: I sought your mandate to serve as Governor of Katsina State, and that remains my sole focus. I am not behind any campaign to contest elsewhere. My duty is to fulfill the trust you’ve placed in me.” His remarks underscored his commitment to his current gubernatorial responsibilities, firmly rejecting any external political campaigns attributed to him.

The humanitarian initiative, organized by the Dutsinma Development Forum, saw the distribution of 600 bags of maize and a cash sum of ₦5,000 to each victim of banditry and insecurity. Governor Radda lauded the Forum for orchestrating this compassion-driven endeavor, describing it as a testament to shared values, empathy, and humanity—caring for one another and standing united through challenging times. He also extended his appreciation to Hon. Aminu Dan Arewa, the Member of the House of Representatives for Kurfi/Dutsinma Federal Constituency, for his substantial contribution of ₦6 million, which facilitated additional support for the victims. The Governor emphasized that such actions exemplify the kind of leadership Nigeria urgently requires—one defined by concrete actions rather than mere promises.

Reaffirming his administration’s foundational commitment, Governor Radda reiterated that security remains the topmost priority. He assured the populace that tireless efforts are underway to restore lasting peace and stability across Katsina State. He stressed that his government would never make promises it cannot keep and that all decisions would continue to be guided by sincerity and the fear of God. During the visit, the Governor also announced plans to extend the vital waterway project from Dutsin-Ma to Charanchi and other nearby areas, demonstrating proactive governance in response to community needs. Dr. Sabi’u Liadi, Chairman of the Dutsin-Ma Development Forum, commended Governor Radda's humility and responsiveness, noting that the Forum's endorsement for a second term was based squarely on his administration's tangible performance and results. Hon. Kabir Abdussalam Shema, the Executive Chairman of Dutsin-Ma Local Government, further praised Governor Radda as a compassionate and courageous leader, expressing strong belief in the continuity of his leadership given the evident progress.
