Dallas Wings Face Injury Concerns in Training Camp

The Dallas Wings are in training camp, establishing a new era under head coach Chris Koclanes. A key member of their backcourt, Tyasha Harris, has returned to full-contact practice, which significantly boosts the Wings' backcourt during this pivotal phase, according to DallasHoopsJournal.com. Harris had been out due to a left knee injury, causing her to miss the preseason loss against the Las Vegas Aces.

Head coach Koclanes confirmed Harris's participation in practice, noting that she was easing back in but engaging in full contact. She participated in live drills against both shells and male practice players and responded positively.

Harris is expected to play a critical role in the Wings' backcourt rotation. Her responsibilities will include managing the offense and setting the team's tone as it undergoes changes under Koclanes. Last season, Harris averaged 10.5 points and 3.0 assists over 39 games.

Koclanes has lauded Harris for her high basketball IQ and her ability to influence the team both on and off the ball. Although the starting backcourt is slated to feature Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale, Harris provides valuable guard depth.

Koclanes described Harris as an incredible player with a calming presence. Even while recovering, Harris remained a vocal leader, and her teammates have observed a seamless transition back to live action. NaLyssa Smith highlighted Harris's seamless integration back into practice, emphasizing how natural she appeared despite her time away. Smith noted that Harris is a smart player who absorbs things quickly, making it seem as though she had not missed any practice time.

The Wings are continuing their training camp this week, leading up to their final preseason game against the Toyota Antelopes on May 10.
